Yaum-e-Ashura Observed Across Pakistan to Honor the Supreme Sacrifice of Imam Hussain(R.A)

ISLAMABAD: Yaum-e-Ashura, the 10th of Muharram, is being observed across Pakistan today with deep solemnity and reverence to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain —the grandson of Prophet Muhammad ()—and his devoted companions in the desert of Karbala.

To mark the tragedy that took place over 1,400 years ago, Majalis are being held, and traditional processions featuring Shabih-e-Alam Taboot , and Zuljanah are being taken out in all major cities and towns of the country.

In memory of the three days of starvation and thirst endured by Imam Hussain and his companions before their martyrdom by the forces of Yazid, special Niaz  and Sabeels  have been set up along the procession routes to serve the mourners and citizens.

Karachi: The main procession of the metropolis commenced from Nishtar Park following a central Majlis-e-Aza.

Lahore: The historic main procession emerged from Nisar Haveli inside the Mochi Gate and is currently heading toward its final destination at Karbala Gamay Shah. Thousands of mourners, including men, women, and children, are participating.

Other Regions: Massive processions are also underway in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, Gilgit, Skardu, and Muzaffarabad, Sahiwal, Okara, Khanewal, Mian Channun, Kabirwala Sarai Sidhu, among other cities.

To ensure the safety of the participants and maintain law and order, the government has implemented foolproof security arrangements across the country. Heavy deployments of police and paramilitary forces, including the Rangers and Frontier Corps, are guarding the procession routes. In several sensitive areas, mobile phone services have been temporarily suspended, and pillion riding remains banned as part of the security protocol.
