Home Department Punjab Honours Officers for Exemplary Services during Muharram ul Haram

Lahore : The Home Department Punjab organized a certificate distribution ceremony to acknowledge the successful completion of security and operational arrangements during Muharram-ul-Haram. On the occasion, Home Secretary Punjab Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi presented commendation certificates to officers and officials who demonstrated outstanding performance during Muharram-ul-Haram. Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi highly appreciated the dedication and professionalism of the officers and personnel who performed their duties with distinction. He said that the Home Department is utilizing all available resources to ensure peace and public safety across the province. He added that the Home Department's Central Control Room remained operational round the clock throughout Muharram-ul-Haram, continuously monitoring the law and order situation and receiving reports from across Punjab. The Home Secretary stated that the Home Department's Digital Media Cell reported more than 5,000 sectarian hate-related social media accounts to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for appropriate action. He further informed that the Home Department's Muharram Portal played a key role in monitoring the latest situation across Punjab and facilitating effective coordination. Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi said that, following the successful security arrangements during the first ten days of Muharram, comprehensive security measures are also being finalized for Chehlum. He added that extensive cyber patrolling is being carried out to prevent the spread of extremist and disruptive content in the digital space. The Home Secretary emphasized that the protection of the life, property, honour and dignity of citizens remains the State's foremost priority. He warned that strict action will continue against individuals promoting sectarian hatred on social media, adding that legal proceedings will be initiated under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and the Anti-Terrorism Act against those involved in online incitement and hate speech. Among those present at the ceremony were Special Secretary Home Faisal Farid, Special Secretary Home Zainab Khan, Additional Secretary Home Asma Ejaz Cheema, Additional Secretary Internal Security Maham Asif Malik, Additional Secretary Special Initiatives Abdul Rauf, Director Civil Defence Tasneem Ali Khan, and other senior officials.
