Deadly Clash in Oulakh Sandhu Graveyard Leaves One Dead, Three Injured Over Cricket Feud

Sarai Sidhu: A long-standing grudge took a tragic turn on Friday when a violent clash between two rival groups at a local cemetery left one person dead and three others critically injured.

The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Sarai Sidhu Police Station,  at the graveyard in Mauza Oulakh Sandhu.

According to local sources, the confrontation involved members of the Qadiyana and Rana communities. On the occasion of 10th Muharram families had gathered to offer prayers (Fatiha) for their deceased loved ones, was shattered when an argument broke out between the two factions.

The verbal altercation rapidly escalated, leading to heavy gunfire.

Deceased: A man identified as Haq Nawaz was killed on the spot.

Injured: Three other individuals sustained severe wounds and were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently undergoing emergency medical treatment.

Investigating sources revealed that the deadly animosity stemmed from a trivial argument during a cricket match some time ago, which had since simmered into a deeply rooted rivalry.

Following the fatal shooting, outraged members of the Qadiyana community took to the streets to demand immediate justice and the arrest of the perpetrators.

Protesters gathered at Choprahata, staging a sit-in that completely blocked the Main Jhang-Multan Road. The blockade caused massive traffic disruptions, with demonstrators chanting slogans against the attackers and calling on higher law enforcement authorities to intervene.

Local police have deployed contingents to the protest site to negotiate with the demonstrators and restore the flow of traffic, while a separate team is conducting raids to apprehend the suspects involved in the firing.
