MULTAN: The processions (Matmi Juloos) and majalis
for Youm-e-Ashura (10th of Muharram) have concluded peacefully across all
districts of South Punjab.
In the wake of the successful security operation, Additional
Chief Secretary (ACS) South Punjab, Fawad Hashim Rabbani, lauded the Punjab
Police, security agencies, and administrative staff for their round-the-clock
efforts in ensuring foolproof security and providing seamless facilities to the
mourners (Azadaran).
Throughout Youm-e-Ashura, ACS Fawad Hashim Rabbani,
alongside Additional IGP South Punjab Muhammad Kamran Khan, personally
supervised the security situation from the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA)
Command and Control Centre in Multan.
A massive technological framework was deployed for real-time
surveillance across the region:
- 3,347
localized CCTV cameras were active across various sensitive routes.
- 1,989
specialized Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA) cameras provided live,
uninterrupted monitoring of all major routes and gatherings.
According to official figures released by the
Additional Chief Secretary, a massive human resource network was mobilized
across the region to maintain law and order, civic cleanliness, and emergency
medical response. The Punjab Police spearheaded the security framework
with 16,836 officers and personnel deployed for route management,
patrolling, and maintaining peace. They were actively assisted by 3,883
Civil Defense volunteers who took charge of crowd control and perimeter
security around the venues.
On the civic and medical fronts, 12,121 sanitation
staff from the "Suthra Punjab" Initiative worked
tirelessly to provide round-the-clock waste management along the procession
routes. Additionally, 232 mobile Clinics-on-Wheels units were stationed
at strategic points to ensure that the mourners had immediate, on-site medical
coverage and first-aid services available at all times.
The scale of the operations catered to hundreds of religious
gatherings across the southern belt of the province. A total of 852 mourning
processions (Matmi Juloos) were successfully concluded, while 869
Majalis-e-Aza were held under strict security protocols across all
districts.
ACS Rabbani highly commended the district administrations,
law enforcement personnel, and municipality workers for their exemplary
coordination, noting that mutual cooperation successfully thwarted any
potential security threats or mismanagement during the high-alert period.
